Is there a Phantom token or airdrop?
No. Phantom has no token and has announced no airdrop. On 3 January 2025 Phantom said publicly that it does "not have any plans to launch a token", and we found no later official statement changing that as of 25 October 2026. Any site, post, message or token offering a Phantom airdrop or claim is a scam.
"Phantom airdrop" and "Phantom token claim" are among the most abused search terms around the wallet. Large crypto companies are often expected to launch a token eventually, and scammers use that expectation. Here are the facts, with dates, and how the fake claim sites work. Last verified: 25 October 2026.
The facts
| Date | Event |
|---|---|
| 19 Dec 2024 | Phantom announces social profiles: usernames, friends and privacy levels. Some users speculate that followers or activity will earn a future airdrop (Cointelegraph, January 2025). |
| 3 Jan 2025 | Phantom posts on X: "We do not have any plans to launch a token" (The Block; Cointelegraph, January 2025). |
| 16 Jan 2025 | Phantom raises $150 million at a $3 billion valuation (The Block, January 2025). Funding news often revives token rumours, but no token was announced. |
| 25 Oct 2026 | We found no official Phantom statement announcing a token, points programme or airdrop. |
The January 2025 post is the only dated public denial we could find. Phantom has not needed to repeat it because it has never announced a token. If that ever changes, it would be announced on phantom.com and Phantom's official accounts, not through a DM, an ad or a token that appears in your wallet.
Tokens that are not "the Phantom token"
Phantom does have product tokens, which scammers sometimes mix into their stories:
- PSOL is Phantom's liquid staking token: it represents SOL you staked through Phantom. It is not a share in Phantom and has no governance role. See staking in Phantom.
- CASH is a US-dollar stablecoin used for Phantom Cash. See Phantom Cash and card.
Any other token called "Phantom", "PHANTOM" or similar on Solana, Ethereum or elsewhere was created by someone else. Anyone can create a token with any name. "Fantom" is a separate blockchain project with its own token and has nothing to do with Phantom Wallet.
How fake Phantom airdrop sites work
- The lure. A search ad, a reply under a popular post, a Discord or Telegram message, an email, or a spam token or NFT in your wallet that says you are eligible for a Phantom airdrop.
- The fake site. A page that copies Phantom's look, often on a look-alike domain or a free hosting service, with a countdown or an "eligibility checker".
- The trap. You are asked to connect your wallet and sign a transaction to "claim", or to type your recovery phrase to "verify" your wallet. The signature hands over your tokens; the recovery phrase hands over everything.
- The follow-up. Victims who complain are contacted by fake "Phantom support" or "recovery experts" who try to take more.
In February 2025 the security firm Scam Sniffer warned of fake Phantom "update" pop-ups that ask for recovery phrases, a related trick (Cointelegraph, February 2025). Phantom's guidance is to treat unsolicited tokens and NFTs as likely scams and never to click airdrop links from search ads or social media (as reported by Cointelegraph, February 2026).
Red flags
- Any mention of a Phantom token, coin, points, presale or airdrop.
- Urgency: "claim in the next 24 hours", "last chance".
- A request to sign something to "check eligibility" or "claim".
- A request for your recovery phrase, private key or PIN. Phantom never asks for them.
- A token or NFT in your wallet that tells you to visit a website.
- A "support agent" who contacts you first. Phantom support never contacts you first and has no phone number.
Why the rumours keep coming back
Many crypto apps, including some wallets, have launched tokens or points programmes, and Phantom has tens of millions of users, raised large funding rounds and earns revenue from swaps and perps. That makes "Phantom will airdrop next" an easy story to sell. Scammers also time their campaigns to Phantom news, such as new features or new networks, because people are already searching for Phantom at those moments. None of this is evidence of a token. The only reliable signal would be an announcement on Phantom's own channels, which you reach yourself.
Be equally careful with "farming" guides that tell you to use Phantom features to qualify for a future airdrop. Using the wallet normally does no harm, but nothing Phantom has said promises a reward for activity, and guides that ask you to connect to unknown sites or sign approvals to "boost eligibility" are a drain risk.
How to protect yourself
- Type phantom.com or help.phantom.com yourself, or use a bookmark. Do not trust search ads.
- Hide spam tokens and NFTs and do not interact with them. See NFTs in Phantom.
- Read Phantom's warnings. If it flags a site or transaction as malicious, stop. See malicious dapp warnings.
- Check any link or app with our Phantom download checker.
If you already used a claim site
If you signed a transaction or typed your recovery phrase on a claim site, assume the wallet is compromised. Create a new wallet on a clean device, move whatever is left to it at once, and follow what to do if your Phantom wallet was drained. Report the site to Phantom through its help centre. Ignore anyone who offers to recover stolen crypto for a fee: that is another scam.
Frequently asked questions
Does Phantom have a token?
No. Phantom has no token of its own. PSOL (liquid staked SOL) and CASH (a dollar stablecoin) are product tokens, not a Phantom company or governance token.
Will Phantom do an airdrop?
Phantom said on 3 January 2025 that it does not have any plans to launch a token, and it had announced no token or airdrop as of 25 October 2026. Any airdrop offer using Phantom's name is a scam.
I received a PHANTOM token in my wallet. Is it real?
No. Anyone can create a token with any name and send it to you. Hide it and do not visit any site it mentions.
Is the Phantom airdrop checker site legit?
No. There is no Phantom airdrop, so every eligibility checker or claim page is fake and designed to get you to sign a draining transaction or reveal your recovery phrase.
Is Fantom the same as Phantom?
No. Fantom is a separate blockchain project with its own token. Phantom is a self-custody wallet and has no token.
