NFTs in Phantom: view, hide spam, send and burn
Phantom shows your NFTs in its collectibles view for Solana and Ethereum-compatible networks; it no longer supports Bitcoin Ordinals. Unwanted NFTs can be reported as spam and hidden, or on Solana burned to get back a small SOL rent deposit. Never open links or visit sites printed on NFTs you did not ask for: they are a common way to get wallets drained.
Quick steps
- Open the NFT. Go to the collectibles view in Phantom and tap the NFT you want to manage.
- Open its menu. Tap the three-dot menu on the NFT's detail screen.
- Report and hide spam. Choose the option to report it as spam and hide it. It moves to the hidden folder and helps train Phantom's filter.
- Or burn it (Solana). If you want the SOL rent deposit back, choose the burn option inside Phantom and confirm. Burning cannot be undone.
- Ignore its instructions. Do not visit any website or follow any claim instructions printed on the NFT.
Phantom started as a Solana wallet with strong NFT support and still treats collectibles as a core feature. This page explains how to view, organise, send and remove NFTs in Phantom, and how the spam NFTs that land in almost every active Solana wallet are used to steal funds. Where your NFTs appear
NFTs live in the collectibles section of the Phantom app and extension, separate from your token balances. Phantom shows collectibles from Solana, from the Ethereum-compatible networks it supports (BNB Chain collectibles were not supported as of October 2026), but no longer Bitcoin Ordinals. Phantom added Ordinals with Bitcoin support in December 2023 (Phantom blog, 2023), but its help centre now says it no longer supports Ordinals, rare sats or BRC-20 tokens, and they no longer appear under Collectibles (Phantom help centre, 2026; no date given). Each NFT opens a detail view with its image, collection, attributes and a menu of actions.
An NFT sits at an address on one blockchain. A Solana NFT belongs to your Solana address, an Ethereum or Base NFT to your 0x address. Phantom groups them in one view, but they never move between networks by themselves. If an NFT you expect is missing, check that the right network is turned on in Phantom's network settings and read why a token or NFT is not showing in Phantom. The list of networks is on Phantom supported chains.
Why random NFTs show up
Creating NFTs on Solana costs very little, so scammers mint them in bulk and send them to thousands of wallets. These "airdropped" NFTs usually carry a message in the name, description or image, such as a reward to claim, a voucher, a token allocation or a website to visit. The goal is to get you onto a drainer site, connect your wallet and sign a transaction that empties it.
Receiving a spam NFT does not put your funds at risk on its own. The danger begins when you follow its instructions. Phantom's own guidance is to treat unsolicited tokens and NFTs as likely scams and never to click airdrop links from search ads or social media (as reported by Cointelegraph, February 2026).
- Never visit a website printed on an NFT you did not buy or mint yourself.
- Never try to "sell" or "claim" a surprise NFT on a site it points to.
- Never enter your recovery phrase anywhere to "verify" or "unlock" an NFT. Phantom never asks for it.
Hide and report spam NFTs
Phantom filters known spam automatically. It maintains an open-source, community-maintained blocklist of malicious domains and contract addresses, and NFTs from blocklisted contracts are hidden from the wallet; if you try to connect to the related site, Phantom shows a warning (Phantom blog, "Security at Phantom"). Its token display also uses signals from internal systems and third-party providers, including Blockaid (Phantom developer documentation, 2026).
For anything that gets through, open the NFT, tap the three-dot menu and choose the option to report it as spam and hide it. Phantom describes this as "Report as Spam and Hide": the NFT moves to a hidden folder, much like an email spam folder, and your report helps train the filter. Menu wording can change between app versions, so look for the report or hide option in the NFT's menu. Hidden items are not deleted; you can view them in the hidden section and unhide anything that was hidden by mistake.
Burn spam NFTs to reclaim SOL
Every Solana NFT you hold sits in a token account that holds a small refundable deposit called rent. Phantom added a burn option for NFTs on 17 August 2022 (Phantom blog, 2022). Burning destroys the NFT permanently and closes its account, and the rent deposit returns to your wallet. The amount per NFT is small: an account keeps the deposit it was opened with, roughly 0.002 SOL for a standard token account opened before Solana's September 2026 rent cut and about 0.00149 SOL for one opened after it, but it adds up if you have collected hundreds of spam items. Our Solana fee and rent calculator shows the exact figure.
Phantom says burning spam NFTs with its built-in option is not dangerous (Phantom blog). The risk lies elsewhere: scam NFTs sometimes tell you to "burn" or "clean up" through an outside website. Only use the burn option inside Phantom, and never a site the NFT advertises.
| Action | What happens | Reversible? |
|---|---|---|
| Report as spam and hide | NFT moves to the hidden folder and trains Phantom's filter | Yes, you can unhide it |
| Burn (Solana) | NFT destroyed, token account closed, rent deposit refunded | No |
| Ignore | Nothing; the NFT stays in your wallet | Not applicable |
Do not burn anything you are unsure about. A real NFT from a collection you care about cannot be recovered after burning.
Sending an NFT
To send an NFT, open it in the collectibles view and choose the send option. Enter the recipient's address, check the preview and confirm. Three rules prevent most mistakes:
- Match the network. A Solana NFT goes to a Solana address, an EVM NFT to a 0x address on the same network. Phantom can no longer send Ordinals.
- Copy the address from the recipient, not from your activity list. Scammers seed wallet histories with look-alike addresses. Our address checker compares two addresses character by character.
- Keep some network fee. On Solana you need a little SOL; sending to a wallet that has never held the NFT may also need a small rent deposit for the recipient's token account. See not enough SOL in Phantom.
Bitcoin Ordinals are inscriptions on specific satoshis. Phantom no longer supports them, and it warns that sending Bitcoin from Phantom may spend satoshis that carry them. If you hold Ordinals at your Phantom Bitcoin address, move them with a Bitcoin wallet that tracks inscriptions before sending BTC from Phantom. See Phantom Bitcoin wallet.
Marketplace connections and approvals
Buying or listing NFTs means connecting Phantom to a marketplace and signing transactions. Fake marketplace sites are as common as fake Phantom sites. Type the address of a marketplace you already know, or use a bookmark. Phantom simulates transactions before you sign and warns when a site or request looks malicious; if it shows a red warning or cannot preview the result, stop. On Ethereum-compatible networks, a listing can involve an approval that lets a contract move your NFTs until you revoke it. Our signature explainer explains what each request type does, and Phantom's malicious dapp warnings covers the warnings themselves.
If you already clicked or signed
If you visited a site linked from a spam NFT and signed something, act quickly. Move remaining assets to a new wallet created on a clean device and follow what to do if your Phantom wallet was drained. "Recovery services" that promise to get stolen NFTs back are scams too.
Frequently asked questions
Can a spam NFT drain my wallet just by being there?
No. Receiving an NFT does not give anyone access to your wallet. The risk comes from visiting the site it advertises and signing a transaction or typing your recovery phrase there.
Is it safe to burn spam NFTs in Phantom?
Using Phantom's own burn option is safe, according to Phantom, and returns the small SOL rent deposit. Never use a burn or clean-up site suggested by the NFT itself.
How much SOL do I get back from burning an NFT?
Roughly the rent deposit the NFT's token account was opened with: about 0.002 SOL for accounts opened before Solana's September 2026 rent cut, about 0.00149 SOL after it. The exact amount depends on the account size.
Where do hidden NFTs go?
To a hidden folder in your collectibles. They stay in your wallet and you can unhide them at any time.
Can I burn Ethereum or Bitcoin NFTs in Phantom?
Phantom introduced burning for Solana NFTs, where it refunds rent. On other networks, hiding a spam NFT is the simple and safe option; there is no rent to reclaim.
