Short answers to the questions people ask most about Phantom Wallet, each linked to a full guide. Facts are as of 25 October 2026; Phantom changes often, so dates are given where they matter.
Basics
What is Phantom Wallet?
Phantom is a self-custody crypto wallet made by Phantom Technologies, available as a browser extension and as iOS and Android apps. It is best known for Solana and also supports several other networks. You use it to hold, send, swap and stake crypto and to connect to apps. More in what is Phantom Wallet.
Is Phantom free?
Downloading and using Phantom is free. You pay network fees, and Phantom charges 0.85% on most in-app swaps, shown before you confirm (Phantom help centre, 2026). Perps, Phantom Cash funding and liquid staking have their own fees. See Phantom fees explained.
Which networks does Phantom support?
Nine: Solana, Ethereum, Base, Polygon, Bitcoin, HyperEVM, Robinhood Chain (added 23 July 2026), Arc (16 September 2026) and BNB Chain (1 October 2026). Phantom does not support custom networks or Arbitrum, Optimism or Avalanche. See Phantom supported chains.
Does Phantom still support Sui and Monad?
No. Monad support ended on 26 August 2026 and Sui support on 24 September 2026. Your funds are still on those blockchains; you can reach them by importing your recovery phrase into a trusted wallet that supports them. See Sui and Monad removed from Phantom.
Is Phantom the same as Fantom?
No. Fantom is a separate blockchain project with its own token. Phantom is a wallet. Searches for one often show the other, so check names carefully.
Safety and support
Is Phantom safe?
Phantom is self-custodial, simulates transactions before you sign and warns about known malicious sites. Most losses come from fake Phantom apps and sites, drainer sites and leaked recovery phrases rather than flaws in the wallet. See is Phantom Wallet safe and our Phantom security history.
Will Phantom ever ask for my recovery phrase?
Never. Not in a pop-up, not in a chat, not to "update", "sync" or "verify" your wallet. Anyone who asks is trying to steal from you. See Phantom recovery phrase.
Does Phantom have a phone number?
No. Phantom offers support through in-app chat and its help centre at help.phantom.com. Every "Phantom support phone number" is a scam. See Phantom support phone scams.
How do I download the real Phantom?
Type phantom.com yourself or use a bookmark. The Chrome Web Store extension ID is bfnaelmomeimhlpmgjnjophhpkkoljpa, the App Store ID is id1598432977 and the Google Play package is app.phantom. See how to download Phantom safely and check any link with our download checker.
Does Phantom work on Firefox?
No longer. Phantom's Firefox listing says it is not supported and will not receive updates. Use Chrome, Brave or Edge with the Chrome Web Store version, or the mobile app. See the Phantom browser extension.
Is Phantom open source?
No. The wallet apps are proprietary. Phantom publishes some developer tools and its scam blocklist, and relies on third-party audits and a bug bounty. Details in our security history.
My wallet was drained. What do I do?
Create a new wallet on a clean device, move anything left to it immediately, and do not reuse the old recovery phrase. Ignore anyone offering to recover funds. See what to do if your Phantom wallet was drained.
Setup and recovery
What if I lose my phone or computer?
Install Phantom on a new device and restore with your recovery phrase, or with your Google or Apple login if you created the wallet that way. Phantom cannot restore a wallet for you. See how to recover a Phantom wallet.
Can I create a wallet without a recovery phrase?
Yes. Phantom lets you create a wallet with a Google or Apple account instead of writing down a phrase. It is convenient but ties recovery to that account. See Phantom email and social login.
Can I move my MetaMask wallet into Phantom?
Yes. You can import a MetaMask recovery phrase or private key; your EVM address stays the same. See import MetaMask into Phantom.
Does Phantom work with hardware wallets?
Phantom supports Ledger devices. Trezor and Tangem are not supported (Phantom help centre, 2026). See using Ledger with Phantom.
Using Phantom
Can I stake SOL in Phantom?
Yes. Native staking needs at least 1 SOL and charges only the validator's commission; unstaking takes about two to three days. Liquid staking with PSOL takes 4% of rewards and a 0.1% exit fee (Phantom help centre, 2026). See how to stake SOL in Phantom.
Why do I need SOL to receive or send tokens?
Solana charges a small fee per transaction, and each new token needs a token account with a refundable rent deposit, about 0.00149 SOL since Solana's rent cut of 11 September 2026 (about 0.002 SOL before). See not enough SOL in Phantom.
Why is my token not showing?
It may be on a network you have turned off, hidden by Phantom's spam filter, or shown as "Unknown" because it lacks metadata. See token not showing in Phantom.
Why did my transaction fail?
Common causes are too little SOL for fees, slippage on a fast-moving token, or a transaction that expired before it was confirmed. See Phantom transaction failed.
Random NFTs and tokens appeared in my wallet. Are they dangerous?
They are usually bait. Receiving them is harmless, but do not visit the sites they mention. Hide them, or burn spam NFTs inside Phantom. See NFTs in Phantom and memecoin safety.
Newer features
Is there a Phantom token or airdrop?
No. Phantom said on 3 January 2025 that it has no plans to launch a token. Every Phantom airdrop or claim site is a scam. See Phantom token and airdrop.
Can I trade perps in Phantom?
Only in permitted regions. Phantom's perps run on Hyperliquid and are not available in the US, the UK, sanctioned jurisdictions or with a Ledger. Each trade costs 0.095% of position size. See Phantom perps.
Can I get the Phantom card outside the US?
No. The virtual Visa debit card and bank features of Phantom Cash are US-only and exclude New York. Holding and sending CASH works almost everywhere. See Phantom Cash and card.
Does Phantom have prediction markets?
Yes, in some regions. US users trade Kalshi markets after Kalshi's identity check; elsewhere, positions opened since 1 June 2026 use World Prediction Markets. See Phantom prediction markets.
Frequently asked questions
Can Phantom reverse or cancel a transaction?
No. Once a transaction is confirmed on the blockchain, nobody can reverse it, including Phantom. Check the address and the preview before you confirm.
Can I have several wallets in Phantom?
Yes. You can create several accounts and import other wallets, and switch between them in the app or extension.
Does Phantom have a desktop app?
There is no native desktop app. On a computer you use the browser extension, and Phantom also offers Phantom Terminal, a web trading interface that signs with the extension.
Can I use Phantom in Brave or Edge?
Yes. Install the Chrome Web Store version with the extension ID bfnaelmomeimhlpmgjnjophhpkkoljpa. Phantom does not publish to the Edge Add-ons store, so a Phantom listing there is not official.
Do I need to verify my identity to use Phantom?
Not for the wallet itself. Identity checks apply only to some features, such as the Phantom Cash card and bank transfers in the US and Kalshi prediction markets.
How do I contact Phantom support?
Use the chat inside the Phantom app or extension, or the help centre at help.phantom.com, typed yourself. Phantom support never contacts you first, never calls, and never asks for your recovery phrase.
