How to download Phantom Wallet safely
Download Phantom only from phantom.com/download (typed yourself) or the official store listings: Chrome Web Store extension ID bfnaelmomeimhlpmgjnjophhpkkoljpa, App Store app ID 1598432977 and Google Play package app.phantom. Chrome is fully supported, Brave, Edge and Opera are compatible, and Firefox and Safari are not supported. Fake Phantom downloads are common and often appear above the real ones in search.
Quick steps
- Type phantom.com yourself. Open a new tab and type phantom.com/download into the address bar, or use a bookmark you created earlier. Do not click search ads or links from messages, videos or social media.
- Pick your platform. Choose the browser extension for Chrome (also usable on Brave, Edge and Opera), or the mobile app for iPhone or Android. Firefox and Safari are not supported.
- Open the official store listing. Follow the link from phantom.com to the Chrome Web Store, App Store or Google Play listing.

Getting the real Phantom is the single most important safety step. Fake Phantom extensions, apps and download pages are among the most common ways people lose crypto, and when we researched this site in October 2026, many of the top search results for Phantom downloads were fakes. You can use the same wallet on several devices by importing your recovery phrase on each, or by signing in with the same Google or Apple account if you created a wallet that way.
Why search results are dangerous
Scammers pay for search ads and fill search results with pages that copy Phantom's design. In 2024 a fake Phantom app even reached the top of App Store search through an ad (CryptoSlate, 2024), and Phantom warned in 2022 about "lots of fraudulent impersonators in the Google Play Store" (Phantom blog). A high position in search, a familiar logo or a well-known host site proves nothing. Typing phantom.com yourself and saving it as a bookmark is the simplest defence.
How to spot a fake Phantom download
- The address is not phantom.com. Watch for extra letters (phanttom), missing letters (phntom), "rn" in place of "m", hyphens, different endings (.baby, .online, .info) and letters from other alphabets that look Latin.
- It is hosted on a free platform. Pages on Teachable, wasmer.app, Daftpage, Umso, Google Sites, Blogspot or Cloudflare Pages that offer a Phantom download are fakes.
- It is a PDF or a "guide" with a download button. Phantom does not distribute through PDFs or forum posts.
- It offers a file to download directly. Phantom installs through browser and app stores, not from a .zip, .exe, .dmg or .apk file on a website.
- The store listing looks wrong. A copy may have few ratings, a recent release date, the wrong category or a developer name other than Phantom Technologies.
- It promises something extra. "Phantom Pro", "Phantom with free airdrop", "new Firefox version", "Phantom desktop app for Windows".
- It asks for your recovery phrase straight away to "activate", "verify" or "sync". The real app asks only when you choose to import an existing wallet.

Phantom is not Fantom
Fantom (now Sonic) is a separate blockchain project. Search results for "Fantom wallet" or "Fantom cüzdan" are not about Phantom, and Phantom does not support Fantom. Make sure the app you install is Phantom from Phantom Technologies.
After you install
Choose whether to create a new wallet or import one. If you create one, write the recovery phrase on paper, check it, and store it offline. Never take a screenshot or save it in a cloud note. If you think you installed a fake
Remove the extension or app immediately. If you typed or created a recovery phrase in it, assume that phrase is compromised: install the real Phantom on a clean device, create a new wallet and move any remaining funds to it. Follow what to do if your wallet was drained.
Safety reminders
Phantom never asks for your recovery phrase. Phantom has no phone support and never contacts you first; real support is the chat inside the app. There is no Phantom token. Updates come through the browser or app store, never through a pop-up asking for your phrase.

Yes. The extension and apps are free. You pay network fees when you transact, and Phantom charges a fee on most in-app swaps.
