How to import a wallet into Phantom (Solflare, Trust Wallet, private keys)
Phantom can import any wallet that uses a standard 12- or 24-word BIP-39 recovery phrase, or a single account from a private key. Use the import option on the welcome screen or add an account from Settings, then check that the addresses match the old wallet. Each imported wallet needs its own backup.
Quick steps
- Export the phrase or key from the old wallet. Reveal the recovery phrase or the account's private key in the old app and write it down offline.
- Open Phantom's add account menu. Go to your profile avatar, Settings, account management and the add option, or use the import option on the welcome screen.
- Choose the import type. Pick import recovery phrase for a whole wallet, or import private key for a single account.
- Enter the phrase or key. Type the words in order, or select the correct network and paste the key.
- Select accounts. Review the accounts Phantom found with activity and choose which to add.
- Compare addresses. Check that each address matches the old wallet on the same network before moving funds.
- Back up each import. Store every imported phrase and private key offline; restoring your main wallet does not restore them.
Phantom can hold several wallets at once: the one you created in Phantom, wallets imported from other apps, single accounts imported by private key, Ledger accounts and watch-only addresses. This guide shows how to import from Solflare, Trust Wallet and other apps, and how to keep many accounts organised. Steps follow Phantom's help centre as of October 2026.
Wallets, accounts and addresses
In Phantom, a wallet is one recovery phrase (or Google or Apple sign-in). A wallet can contain many accounts, and each account has an address on each supported network. A private key gives you one address on one network.
| Ways to add to Phantom | What you get | Syncs to your other devices |
|---|---|---|
| Create a new account | Another account from an existing phrase | Yes |
| Import a recovery phrase | A separate wallet and its accounts | Must be imported on each device |
| Import a private key | One address on one network | No |
| Connect a hardware wallet | Ledger accounts | Connect on each device |
| Watch an address | View-only; cannot send or sign | Not stated |
To add any of these, open your profile avatar, go to Settings, open account management and use the add (plus) option (Phantom help centre, 2026). On a fresh install, the welcome screen offers the import options directly.
Import from Solflare
Export your recovery phrase in Solflare first (Solflare has its own guides for mobile and web). Then import it in Phantom with the import recovery phrase option. Phantom's help centre then asks you to compare the public addresses shown in Phantom with Solflare's addresses on the same network: they should match. If they do not, check you exported the intended wallet and are looking at the right network.
Solflare users with a Ledger do not need to import anything. Connect the Ledger to Phantom directly (see Phantom and Ledger).
Import from Trust Wallet
Trust Wallet uses standard BIP-39 phrases, so the same import process applies: reveal the phrase in Trust Wallet's wallet settings, write it down and import it into Phantom. Then compare addresses network by network. Phantom only shows its nine supported networks, so assets on chains it does not support (for example Avalanche, Arbitrum or Tron) will not appear even though they are still in your wallet.
If the words are correct but the Solana address in Phantom is different from Trust Wallet's, the two apps may be using different derivation paths. Phantom supports its standard paths plus a few legacy and Ledger Live paths, and enables the alternatives only when it finds past activity on them (Phantom help centre, 2026). Phantom's advice for an unsupported path is to keep using the original app for those accounts, or to send the funds to your Phantom address. We could not confirm from official sources which Trust Wallet Solana path Phantom detects, so always compare addresses before relying on an import.
Other apps: pump.fun, Magic Eden, Zap and more
Phantom's help centre has dedicated guides for importing Privy-based wallets (used by apps such as Fomo and pump.fun), Magic Eden wallets and Zap wallets. In most cases you export a recovery phrase or private key from the app and import it into Phantom. Some trading platforms work the other way round and ask for a Phantom private key rather than a phrase. Only paste a key into a platform you trust completely, because whoever has it controls that account.
Import a private key
- Export the private key from the old wallet.
- In Phantom, add an account and choose to import a private key.
- Select the network the key belongs to, such as Solana or Ethereum. The wrong network causes an "incorrect format" error.
- Paste the key and name the account.
Private key accounts stay on the device where you imported them. Restoring your main Phantom wallet will not bring them back, so keep an offline backup of every key.
Managing multiple accounts
Separate accounts are a simple safety tool. Many people keep one account for long-term holdings, one for connecting to new apps and memecoins, and a Ledger account for savings. You can create new accounts from any phrase you have imported, and choose which phrase each new account comes from.
After importing a phrase, you may see "extra" accounts. They are not new wallets: they are other accounts derived from the same phrase that have on-chain activity. Phantom lets you view them and select which to add, and accounts you skip are not deleted. You can remove accounts from the list later, and an imported recovery phrase can be removed from Phantom too. Removing it from Phantom does not touch the funds, so make sure you have the phrase backed up first.
If the import fails
- Phrase rejected: Phantom needs exactly 12 or 24 words, in the right order, spelled as in the BIP-39 English list, with single spaces (mobile) or one word per box (extension).
- Accounts missing: Phantom restores accounts with activity, oldest first. Add more accounts manually; if they still do not appear, Phantom suggests resetting the app and importing again.
- Unfamiliar accounts: you may have imported a different phrase. Import it into the original app to check.
- Wrong network assets missing: turn the network on under active networks, and check it is one Phantom supports (see supported chains).
- Sui or Monad wallets: Phantom no longer supports these networks (Monad from 26 August 2026, Sui from 24 September 2026), so importing will not show those assets.
Keep imports safe
Only type a phrase into the official Phantom import screen, never into a website, form or "support" chat. Phantom never asks for your phrase. Back up every imported phrase and key separately; Phantom's own backups do not cover them. If the old wallet might be compromised, do not import it: create a new Phantom wallet and move the funds instead.
Frequently asked questions
Can I import a 24-word phrase into Phantom?
Yes. Phantom imports 12- and 24-word BIP-39 recovery phrases from other wallets.
How many wallets can I import into Phantom?
Phantom's help centre does not state a limit. You can import several recovery phrases and private keys and switch between accounts.
Why is my imported Solana address different?
The other wallet may use a derivation path Phantom does not support, or you imported a different phrase. Keep using the original app or send the funds to your Phantom address.
Do imported wallets sync between my phone and computer?
Not automatically. Import each extra phrase or private key on every device where you want it.
Can I watch an address without importing it?
Yes. Phantom can add a watch-only address to track balances, but you cannot send or sign from it.
